Baptism: A New Life in Christ

Baptism is the faithful response of a heart transformed by God’s grace. We believe that in this pivotal moment, sins are washed away and a new life in Christ begins according to the New Testament pattern. Our mission is built on the conviction that nothing compares to sharing the gospel, and we rejoice with every soul who chooses to obey and is added to the Lord’s church.

The Biblical Pattern

Following the examples found in the book of Acts, we teach that baptism is a vital step for those who have come to know God’s love. As the scriptures state:

“And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.”Acts 22:16

“Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”Romans 6:3-4

The Fruit of Our Labors

The primary goal of all our “tools”—whether medical missions, disaster relief, or feeding programs—is to open the door for Bible studies that lead to baptism. We have seen God work powerfully through these efforts:

Following Typhoon Yolanda: During the year-long relief effort, our focus remained on seeking and saving the lost. As a result of countless Bible studies and gospel meetings, 166 souls were baptized into Christ.

Initial Survey Work: Even during early survey trips in 2011, over 30 individuals responded to the gospel by the end of the year.

Community Growth: In areas like Tagbilaran City and the mountainous region of Loon, we continue to see individuals respond to the truth of the gospel and join the local body of believers.

Joining the Lord’s Church

We are dedicated to establishing New Testament churches patterned after the early church. When a soul is baptized, they are not just joining a group, but are being added to the Lord’s church to begin a walk in “newness of life.” We currently support six full-time preachers who work tirelessly to mentor new converts and strengthen these growing congregations.
